How to wear a firefighter’s shirt to work
Live fit clothes are a must when you’re on the job, whether it’s wearing a firefighter’s shirt or something else that fits well.
Firefighters need a good fit for their clothes and that means being able to wear shirts with enough room to breathe without losing shape.
If you’re wearing a jumper or t-shirt, the back of your shirt should be tucked in.
For a firefighter, this means keeping the shirt tucked into the bottom of the chest.
Firefighter shirts should be slim and well-fitting, and not too long.
If the shirt is too short, the firefighter may be forced to shorten his or her shirt, and that can make it uncomfortable.
If a firefighter is wearing a tank top or dress shirt, the shirt should come down to the knees, and it should not hang too low.
Firefighting gear is often used in conjunction with clothing for women, so you’ll want to look for a firefighting shirt that is designed for both men and women.
Find a shirt that has room for a firefighter to breathe while working.
If it has a zipper, make sure it is easy to access, has a hood or a top pocket, and has pockets for your wallet and phone.
It should also have a hood that closes at the top of the shirt, so it’s not hidden under the shirt.
This way, if the shirt gets too hot or cold, the wearer won’t be able to see their face or eyes while wearing it.
For women, look for shirts that have a short sleeves and are made from cotton or nylon.
If they have a button fly, a zip fly, or a button band, they should have a zipper and zip fly at the front and back.
The front zipper should be at an angle, so that when the button is pushed down, it doesn’t slip back.
Fire department-issued shirts should have an embroidered logo and a firefighter emblem.
If an employee wears an official uniform, the sleeves should be long and slim, not too short.
If wearing a jacket or shirt, make it comfortable to wear, and the chest pocket should have pockets for cash and other small items.
Firemen should also be able hold their breath and breathe through their shirt, if necessary.
A firefighter’s fire hydrant should be the size of a baseball cap.
Fire hydrant sleeves should have enough room for breathing, not to exceed about the size and width of the firefighter’s chest.
You should also consider the firefighter shirt size.
This is a small size that can be a bit tight, especially for a man.
For men, the chest size should be about the same as the chest circumference.
For example, a size 14 shirt will fit a size 18 man’s chest, while a size 16 shirt will be more comfortable for a size 21 man.
You may also want to consider sizing your fire department shirts to suit your individual body type.
For an example of how to get a fire hydrants fit, see our article on how to size your firefighter shirts.
Keep in mind that your shirt will probably fit differently than it does for other women, and you may want to be aware of how your body is changing in relation to the size.
If your shirt is oversized, you may need to adjust the length of the jacket, or you may also need to shorten the shirt for your chest size.
